An October I'd Rather Forget

This month has been particularly difficult on everyone, My DH was away in the US at the end of September and came home sick with some sort of virus. He spent a week at home and then both girls got sick. They just seemed to get worse and worse running fevers of 40C for over a week. Even though they were on antibiotics from the word go, Aurelia developed pneumonia and ended up in hospital for a week and Amelie was there for two days. My DH spent the time with them in hospital as the doctors advised that Felix should be kept away from the hospital because of his age. Felix seemed to get a very mild dose of whatever the girls had and I am recovering from the same bug. It has been an experience that I would rather not repeat!

Here are photos of the children the day before they fell sick.

I have not been doing a whole lot of stitching, but I did start an online class with Robin Laukhuf from Olde Willow Stitchery. The piece is called "My Favourite Scottish Sampler" and I am stitching it on 36ct Lakeside linen with Needlepoint silks. So far I have only done a small part of class one. Those Algerian eyelets took forever and now I have to start the inside border of them.

For those people who are waiting to receive something from me, please be patient. I haven't forgotten, but I may be delayed a little longer until the whole household is better.

So sorry that about everyone being sick. Luckily you were well enough to play nurse.

The good news is that they are on the mend.

I hope that everyone is well soon.
Your Scottish sampler start looks great.

Oh no! How awful for you all! It seems those husbands are always bringing home something for everyone to catch. When my youngest was only a few weeks old, my DD had to go into the hospital for something -- it was hard since I didn't want to bring the baby into the hospital. So I totally know the predicament you were in with the girls in the hospital. Hope everyone is feeling better now. Your OWS piece is looking pretty!

Oh, what an exhausting experience this must have been for you, Suzanne. It is so worrisome when your children are sick--especially sick enough to end up in the hospital. I hope everyone is back to normal very soon...

Love the photos of your newest sampler and your beautiful children :)

How terrible! You must have been so worried too even more so since you weren't able to be with them. Thank goodness Felix didn't end up there too!
I'm glad that everyone is on the mend now and I hope you don't ever have to repeat that experience!

Oh Suzanne. How awful for you. I hope that everyone is on the mend now and life goes back to normal quickly. They say "what doesn't kill us makes us strong" but sometimes being tested isn't fun. Sending warm hugs. Hang in there, Baby.

Oh Suzanne, I'm feeling with you. Is there anything that scares you more than when your kids are ill or even in hospital? I do hope that all of you feel much better by now and that you will be fully recovered soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that everybody has been sick! Gosh, for the girls to get so sick that they ended up in the hospital must have been super scary for you all. I hope that you're all on the mend now and that's your quota of sickness for the rest of this year & next year as well!

Lovely stitching!
