A Busy Past Year!

As many of you would know in October we had some of the worst fires the Blue Mountains had seen in 40 years. My DH was out almost everyday for two weeks fighting fires. Sadly his sister lost her home during this fire. She is doing much better and has purchased a new home and is settling into that with the family.

I was fortunate to get out and fight fires on two night shifts while my DH stayed home and looked after the children. It had been many years since I had last been out on a fire truck, but those 12 hour shifts were a blissful escape from my day to day life. (PS. That's me closest to the camera in the bottom photo)

At the end of November the family took a trip to Tasmania for my cousin's wedding. Both of the girls were flower girls and they looked so beautiful. We then took a few days of sightseeing before heading back home. Enjoy the photos!

Oh my, these fire pictures look so scary. Good to know that your sister could already buy a new house and settle in there after losing hers to the fire. A scary thought.

Nice trip to Tasmania and wonderful family pictures.

Oh my gosh, your kids are getting so big! The girls are so beautiful in their flower girl costumes! Love seeing the sights from your trip. That big fire was so scary. Sandra had told me you were out there fighting the fires too. I'm so impressed that you are a fire fighter!

Such lovely photos, Suzanne--I'm so sorry to see the fires, though. How scary and very sad for your SIL... You must feel very proud to be able to fight them and help others save their properties...

The kids are adorable--growing up so fast :) Happy New Year to you all!

What a wonderful post Suzanne, you are a lady of so many talents, out fighting fires and all!! How sad for your SIL to lose her home, I'm glad to hear she is recovering from that.
Your kids are so cute, the girls made the most beautiful flower girls, and hasn't your little man grown up, I still think of him as a baby, but he is quite the young man now isn't he!
Happy New Year to you all.

You're very brave to put yourself in that position of fighting fires. I take my hat off to all those in the emergency services, you certainly have to be dedicated.
Hope your sister is settling in to her new home.
Gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing.
